House of Dark Shadows Dreamhouse Kings

Hey, they're out!

Dreamhouse Kings is the name of my new action/adventure series. The first two books are House of Dark Shadows and Watcher in the Woods. You can find at most bookstores. My publisher and I put together some cool contests and ways you can get involved. Keep reading to find out about them (including the weekly "Weekly Trivia!" Contest).

Dream house ... or bad dream?

When the Kings move from L.A. to a secluded small town, fifteen-year-old Xander is beyond disappointed. He and his friends loved to create amateur films . . . and the tiny town of Pinedale is the last place a movie buff and future filmmaker wants to land.

But he, David, and Toria are captivated by the many rooms in the old Victorian fixer-upper they moved into—as well as the heavy woods surrounding the house.

They soon discover there's something odd about the house. Sounds come from the wrong directions. Prints of giant, bare feet appear in the dust. And when David tries to hide in the linen closet, he winds up in locker 119 at his new school.

Then the really weird stuff kicks in: They find a hidden hallway with portals leading to far-off places—in long-ago times. Xander is starting to wonder if this kind of adventure is a teen's dream come true . . . or his worst nightmare.

House of Dark Shadows is Book One of Robert Liparulo's thrilling new series, Dreamhouse Kings.

Watcher in the Woods It's not just the house that's keeping secrets

Pretending everything's all right is harder than it sounds. But even if the Kings told the truth about the bizarre events happening in their house, people would think they were nuts. So they focus on the only thing left to do: rescuing their lost family member before anyone finds out what's going on.

Then, when a stranger shows up to take their house, their options dwindle fast. Why would he be so interested in a run-down old place? And what secret is he hiding—just as he does the scars that crisscross his body?

The mystery grows deeper—and stranger—with every beat of their hearts. The Kings' only hope is to find a way to harness the house's secrets and discover who is watching their every move before more of them get snatched into unknown hostile worlds.

Watcher in the Woods is Book Two of Robert Liparulo's thrilling new series, Dreamhouse Kings.

"Dream the Scene" Contest

Xander and David have already battled a gladiator in the Roman Colosseum and fended off tigers in a dense jungle. Now their mother has been taken somewhere in time, and the kids are determined to find her. Where do you think they should look? An Aztec temple at the height of the Spanish conquest? London during the German Blitz of World War II? The Civil War? What do they find there? What clues to Mom's location? Who helps them? Who tries to stop them? Does Toria tag along? Does Dad?

Here's your chance to launch the Kings into an adventure of a lifetime.

Author Robert Liparulo wants to know where you think the Kings should go and what they find when they arrive. If he chooses your idea, he'll write it into a future Dreamhouse Kings book, making it a part of their story forever. The creator of each winning idea will be acknowledged in the novel that features the adventure, and also receive a new iPod Nano. You have four chances to win, so find out all the rules and how to enter at www.DreamhouseKings.com.

Try to keep your submissions under fifty words, give or take. For entries to be considered for inclusion in Gatekeepers (Book 3 of Dreamhouse Kings), they must be August 15th, 2008. Winning entries received after this date, will be written into future Dreamhouse Kings books.

You can download the official rules soon; please check back.
