I'm back!
Hi! I've returned from three weeks on the road. I had a great time meeting students from schools all over the country (Boston, Annapolis, Atlanta, Orlando, Asheville, Austin, Los Angeles, Westlake Village, [Calif.], Seattle, and Colorado Springs). I'm beat, but meeting young readers and hearing their ideas for future Dreamhouse Kings books is one of the most rewarding parts of my job! It's a blast to see all the different reactions to the Dreamhouse Kings series: "I read both books in one day!" "I couldn't sleep after I read it!" "What? I have to wait for book three? Write faster!" I hope to get out and visit more schools soon.
Some of you noticed the trivia contest wasn't being updated while I was on the road. I'm happy to report we're back on schedule - I've notified eight new winners and posted the questions I missed while I was away. So far, we've given away over $600 in prizes. If you want a shot at some of the loot, all you have to do is send in your answers!
A lot of you have emailed me. Thank you! I love hearing from you. Keep 'em coming!
Remember, if you want signed bookplates (stickers that go on the backside of the covers) or bookmarks, send me an email with your address.
Thanks for visiting!

Cool. When is ''germ'' going to come out? Or is it already out? It sounds like a real good book.
Hi, Bob:
Germ came out before Deadfall. You should be able to find it in paperback now, as well as hard cover.
If you get a chance to read it, please let me know what you think.
Take care.
Hi Robert,
I think you're Dream House Kings Series books are amazing!! Where do you get the ideas for those books? I especially love how you ended the first book in NOT THE END it made me want to buy the second book more! You're an awesome author!
I checked the borders online store and gatekeepers comes out January 8th. I'm anxious to use my gift card!
That was from Caleb S.
Hi, Sarah. The entire Dreamhouse series came from a dream I had when I was a kid. The characters are developing as I write them, and some plot twists are new, but essentially, you're reading my dream.
I'll tell you, deciding to end each book with a cliffhanger was tough. I was afraid readers would get frustrated. But so far, people don't seem to mind. I was trying to mimic the cliffhangers that played before the Saturday matinee movies when I was young. All week long, we kids would speculated how the hero would get out of a scary situation. It was a lot of fun. Still, I can't wait for all six books to be out, so new readers can read them back-to-back (if they like them, of course).
Hey, Caleb, did you have a great Christmas? Did you get a chance to pick up Gatekeepers yet? When you read it, please let me know what you think.
I hope 2009 is your best year so far!
Robert
I really like how you always put not the end at the end of each book, and how you always leave me hanging at the end of each book. I absolutely love it!!!
Rachel, thank you for saying that. Those cliffhangers are either fun or frustrating. I'm going to blog about why I use them soon.
Take care.
